Criss Cross Cookies

Ingredients:
3 cups flour
1/2 cup sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup margarine or butter
2 eggs
1/4 cup milk
2 cups jam
1/2 cup chopped nuts
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350-375° F Sift dry ingredients. Cut in margarine as for pie
dough. Add eggs beaten with milk and stir to form a soft dough. Set aside about
1/3 of the dough and spread the rest evenly in shallow pan. Press around sides.
Spread with jam (can spread with raspberry on one half and apricot on other
half). Sprinkle nuts over top. Make strips out of reserved dough, about one
inch. Arrange lattice fashion, if strips break, pinch together. Bake in
preheated moderate oven 350 to 375 degrees for 45 minutes. Cut in squares. Dust
with confectioners' sugar. |
